The 12th of December we had the third round of the Danish Xray M18 indoor winter cup, sponsored by Xray Denmark/RC Model Center and organized by the biggest RC club in Denmark – www.hrcr.dk.

The track is new for this season and located in RC Model Center’s new warehouse building. Over 50 drivers are meeting here two times a week to practice with their Xray M18 and more are coming each week, but only 23 drivers were present this racing day (December is a busy month and a lot of company parties going on!).

Among the drivers we have some new guys within RC but also people who are fast with 1:5 like Martin Lissau, former 1:8 onraod driver Claus Nielsen and the Harder family with the father Ole and the sons Janus and Peter. The reason for the strong line up is simple – this class gives back memories of fun 1:12 racing but with a 1:10 touring look a like car and with simple rules who are equal for all and not to mention the low budget racing.

The stock class is popular and the roles simple: Xray out the box, Ellegi foam tires, and touring car bodies – no option parts at all.

Qualifying with 3 rounds of 5 minutes, and it was Peter Harder who set new track record doing 40 laps, followed by Martin Lissau and Claus Nielsen with 39 laps. Lap record on 7.17 from Claus Nielsen.

6 drivers in each 8 minutes final and the first A main was a one man show with Peter Harder taking first followed by Martin, Claus and the Harder junior and senior. The second final gave a lot of close racing between Martin and Peter but it was Martin Lissau who where the strongest. Claus having problems and dropping out gave only Martin and Peter the chance to fight for the victory.

Third final was again a close battle between Martin and Peter – and in the end it was Martin who came first with only hundreds of seconds. Congratulations Martin Lissau (15 years and GP winner within 1:5 racing and in top 3 on the EFRA ranking list).

This Xray Cup has 6 rounds and still lot to fight for at the next meeting January the 9th.

Then we will take some video and put it on the internet – so you can see and enjoy the fun and fast racing there is in this new and fastest growing RC racing class.

Happy X-mass.
